Roberts Raises Awareness For Teen Suicide Prevention

A resolution concerning teen suicide prevention unanimously passed the Senate Education Committee this week.

Senator Ellen RobertsHJR 1004 sponsored by Senator Ellen Roberts, R-Durango and Senator Michael Johnston, D-Denver, strives to increase awareness of teen suicide prevention throughout Colorado. The resolution was brought forward by students with the Colorado Youth Advisory Council. The council is made up of students, ranging in ages 14-19, from all across the state.

“This is a tragic issue that affects people from all walks of life,” said Roberts. “It is particularly heartbreaking when teens see suicide as their only option. This resolution seeks to give teachers, parents and communities better tools to recognize the signs of young people who may be contemplating suicide.”
